01 — Work index
What we are usually called out for.
Scope, the time a job normally takes on site, and what you are left holding afterwards. If your job is not listed, describe it in the enquiry form and we will tell you plainly whether it is ours.
Durations assume reasonable access to the board and to the route. We confirm them at survey, not over the phone.
01
Fault finding
Tracing a tripping circuit, a dead socket run or a light that dims under load. Split tests at the board, then along the circuit until the fault is isolated.
Half day
02
Consumer unit replacement
A metal board with RCBO protection per circuit, so one fault no longer takes half the house out. Existing circuits are tested before and after the swap.
One day
03
Additional sockets & spurs
New double sockets on an existing ring, or a dedicated spur for a fridge, a home office or a workshop bench. Chased and made good, or surface run in trunking where you prefer.
2–4 hours
04
Kitchen & bathroom circuits
Cooker points, extractor fans, under-cabinet lighting and zone-appropriate fittings, sequenced around the joiner and the tiler rather than against them.
1–2 days
05
Lighting design & install
Layouts planned room by room: task, ambient and a dimmable layer. Includes switching plans so the lights you use most are nearest the door.
1–3 days
06
Partial & full rewires
Staged room by room where you are living in, or floor by floor where the property is empty. Old rubber and fabric-sheathed cable removed, not buried.
4–10 days
07
EV charge points
Load assessment first, then a dedicated protected circuit to the parking position. Cable route agreed with you before anything is clipped to a wall.
One day
08
Garden & outbuilding supplies
Armoured supply to a shed, studio or garage with its own small board, outdoor sockets and weatherproof lighting on a separate switch.
1–2 days
09
Condition reports
A full inspection of the installation with coded observations, written so you can tell the urgent items from the housekeeping ones.
3–5 hours
